Pumpkin Drawing Lesson
In this lesson, students looked at small pumpkins while drawing in order to draw the most realistic pumpkins possible.
Goal: When given a pumpkin, colored pencils, and Linquin Oil, students will be able to draw, shade, and blend pumpkins to create smooth, realistic drawings.
Students were given small pumpkins to look at and draw. They were asked to notice how the pumpkins have segments, they are not smooth spheres. We looked at how the color changes on the pumpkin as the light hits them. We worked on shading using red, orange, red-orange, yellow, and even blue. Once the color was built up enough on the page we used blending stubs dipped in the Linquin to smooth the colors. The oil creates a really smooth color pencil effect.
